Musings on a man named Job...

Today I have been reading about Job, a guy in the Bible with a whole book about him (and the book is called Job, funnily enough!) I have been personally challenged by this book, but before I expand, let me share with you a brief overview of the story - just in case you have no idea what I am on about!

There is this guy named Job and he is really wealthy. So wealthy, infact, that it says in the Bible that he was the greatest man among all the people of the east. He had sons, daughters and a wife, but most importantly he loved God with all his heart. He would pray on behalf of himself and his family - he was such an awesome man of God. Anyway, God would look down at him and say, "Yeah! That's my son Job, he's the man!"

One day, God was bragging to Satan about how amazing Job was and how much he loved God. Satan challenged, "He doesn't love you, he loves what you have given him. He is so rich - look at all of his stuff! If you take that stuff away I bet he wouldn't love you anymore." God disagreed, replying, "Do all you want to his stuff but don't touch him."

Satan wiped out all of Job's belongings and fortune. But Job still gave praise to God, saying, "When I was born, I was naked, and I will be naked when I die. The Lord gave these things to me and He has taken them away. Praise the name of the Lord!" In all of this, Job did not sin or blame God.

Satan went back to God and once again, God was bragging about how blameless His servant Job was. "But have you really tested him? A man will give anything to save his own life!" Satan exclaimed. So God said, "Alright, Job can be under your power but you are not allowed to take his life." Satan used his power to attack Job's body with a very painful sickness.

What happens next? Maybe you should open your Bible and check it out, you may be surprised how this story turns out! And who knows, you might learn something new or God might even speak to you - check it out! God bless,

Love Hannah

HOPE...

Where is hope? I just wanted to encourage you all that there is hope and his name is Jesus. You see, I don't know who you are, where you're from or what your struggles are, but Jesus does. Ask him for help! Usually when we are at our weakness, He is at His strongest. When we are at our worst, He is at His best. So ask Jesus for help in your situation.

Your struggle could be that you need help to concentrate on an assignment. Or there could be abuse in your life. Whatever the problem is, turn to God. He will always listen and always cares.

Have you experienced the hope of Jesus yourself? Dwell on this thought for at least five minutes...

In my own life, I have days where I just feel like a cloud is hovering over me - it's on those days that I need God the most. The sad thing about this problem is that quite often, instead of going into my room, shutting the door and asking for God's help and hope, I have turned to STUFF. Can I just tell you from first hand experience, I have never felt hopeful after turning to stuff instead of God. This is an area in my life that I need to change!

So I am actively choosing that from now on, whenever I have a problem, I will turn to God first and foremost, as I should! So I put out a challenge to you all, as well as myself, to TURN TO GOD ALWAYS because there is no time like the present. Start today and let me know how it's going!

God bless you, Love Hannah
